DATABASE BASICS
Running a business is hard work whether you are managing a one-person enterprise
or a Fortune 500 company. To effectively run a business you must keep track of a lot
of information. Learn how to use the world's best-selling database software to help
run your business. In this class, you will learn how to create a database that will help integrate and manage your business using FileMaker Pro, a very-user friendly database platform that can be used on either a Mac or a PC. You will learn to create a system that will grow with your business and focus on real world uses of the database. NOTE: Students must bring their own laptop to all classes.

INTRODUCTION TO COMPUTERS 

Afraid of the computer? Don’t be. This class provides an introduction to computers for students with little or no computer experience. Each student will have access to a system equipped with Microsoft Windows. This hands-on course will introduce basic computer skills and concepts including MS Word, MS Excel, email and the Internet.

MAKING YOUR COMPUTER WORK FOR YOU

This course is intended for those with some basic knowledge of a personal computer. The
course will emphasize word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs, the Internet and how they can work together. Each student will have the use of a MicrosoftWindows based PC with Windows, Microsoft Office and other appropriate software. This computer course is limited to 16 students.

MICROSOFT OFFICE I

Master all the aspects of Microsoft Office- i.e., Microsoft Outlook, task Scheduler, journal, diary, etc.  In addition, learn how the program can make your home office run more smoothly and learn to integrate its functions with the internet.  Please bring a pencil and notepad to the first class.  Students should have basic computer and typing skills.

Be more productive! Update your office skills. This course is designed to teach you how to use and integrate all the applications in the Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access. Learn how to use these programs efficiently so you will save time. Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet and basic keyboarding/typing skills is required.

EXCEL 2003 LEVEL I

You have basic computer skills such as using a mouse, navigating through Windows and the Internet. You have also used paper-based systems to store data on which you have run calculations.  You may now want to migrate that data to an electronic format.  In this course, you will use Microsoft Office Excel 2003 to manage, edit and print data.  Textbook costing $25 will be required; information will be provided on the first night of class.

EXCEL 2003 LEVEL II
In Microsoft Office Excel 2003 Level I, you created, edited, formatted and printed basic
spreadsheets. You may now have a need to streamline repetitive tasks and display spreadsheets in more visually effective ways. In this course you will use Microsoft Excel 2003 to enhance your spreadsheets with templates, charts, graphics and formulas. Prerequisite: familiarity with all information from Level I. Information about the required textbook ($25) will be provided on the first night of class.

eBay is the premier online auction site on the Internet. If you are planning to buy or sell items, this is the place to start. This could be your opportunity to become a success story. Each student will register, search, buy and sell items on EBay. This class is limited to ten students to insure individual attention. Prerequisite: basic computer knowledge.

WEBSITE DESIGN

This course will teach you how to develop a website using HTML code and Notepad (a simple text editor). We will focus on clear, step-by-step instructions, building on each week’s knowledge and using in-class examples to reinforce skills. By the conclusion of this course, you will be able to create your own website. You will also learn how to place your website on the Internet. Students should bring a small flash drive to each class.

MICROSOFT PUBLISHER: GETTING STARTED

Create dynamic publications on your desktop computer. This short course will introduce you to Microsoft’s desktop publishing program, including how to create print publications such as brochures, newsletters, postcards, CD or DVD labels, and more. You’ll also learn how to import text documents for formatting in Publisher, change layout and color schemes, and use basic information sets across publications.
