THE GOLDEN YEARS: KEEPING OUR PARENTS SAFE

The decision to place a parent or other loved one into a nursing home or similar custodial care environment is emotionally taxing and fraught with peril. This seminar is intended to help you make the best decision for your family. Learn the essential differences between a nursing home and a personal care home. Explore procedural matters, such as advanced directives, decision making powers, notification of injury, and care dispute resolution. Discuss the responsibilities of residential facilities to provide for the safety and well-being of your loved one. Learn to recognize the common signs that the resident may not be receiving adequate care and may be at risk for avoidable injuries. Additional resources will be provided.
