Registration Policy and Procedures

                   COURSE CONFIRMATIONS ARE NO LONGER MAILED TO REGISTRANTS

              SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPES NEED NOT BE SENT WITH REGISTRATION FORM (EXCEPT FOR FORUM REQUESTS)

Students will be notified ONLY when courses are cancelled or filled.

On opening day or night report to the location where your class is scheduled.

STUDENTS ARE URGED TO REGISTER EARLY BY MAIL OR BY PHONE SINCE MANY COURSES FILL QUICKLY.

Children under high school age are not permitted in classes or on trips. No children are permitted on trips or in the buildings during Adult School classes.

Guests are permitted, with the following conditions:

  1. Teacher’s permission must be obtained in advance

  2. Class must not be fully registered

  3. Each guest may attend a class only one time

  4. Guest fee of $10 must be paid at front desk      

Persons who live outside Cheltenham Township are charged one $5 fee per SEMESTER, regardless of the number of courses and/or trips taken.

 

CTAS reserves the right to change the location of any course due to extenuating circumstances.

 SCHOLARSHIPS

A limited number of scholarships for CTAS courses, trips excluded, are granted to adults who need financial aid. These scholarships are dedicated to the memory of Dr. Herman M. Wessel, one of the founders of the school and a longtime board member. Please telephone the CTAS office to request a scholarship application. All scholarship requests must be received by Monday, September 10. Books and materials are not included.

OPEN DOOR POLICY

The Cheltenham Township Adult School welcomes students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities, and does not discriminate in the administration of its educational policies, scholarships, athletics and other school programs.    

FIVE EASY WAYS TO REGISTER

  1. By mail with check or credit card  VISA, MASTERCARD or DISCOVER only.

  2. By phone after 9/5, 10 AM to 2 PM Credit cards only  215-887-1720.

  3. By fax-  Send completed registration form showing credit-card number, signature and expiration date to 215-887-0949 Include 3 digit number located on signature panel.

  4. In person at Cheltenham High School 9/17, 7:30-8:30 pm

  5. First Night Of Class (many courses are filled by this time):

When - Monday or Thursday evening - come 15 minutes early

Where - registration desk in the lobby of Cheltenham High

***No walk-in registration will be taken in the CTAS office***

REFUND/CREDIT POLICY

Full refunds will be issued for any class or trip cancelled by CTAS. You may apply the tuition towards another course or trip, subject to availability.

CLASSES

Refunds will not be issued for student-initiated withdrawals from classes.

You may apply for a credit voucher at the start of a semester under the following conditions:

       Credit voucher requests must be received by CTAS no later than three working days prior to the start of any one or two session class or two working days after the first meeting of a course of three sessions or more.

        After that time credit vouchers cannot be issued for classes missed as a result of illness, personal emergencies or any other event beyond our control

Apply in person at the registration desk in the lobby of Cheltenham High School on the first night of Monday or Thursday evening classes.

An $8.00 processing fee will be applied to all credit voucher requests

Requests for refunds must be received at least two weeks before the trip.

TRANSFERS

Please be aware that many courses have a policy of no entry after the first (or second) class meeting    

An $8.00 processing fee will be applied to transfers when the tuitions are not equal.

PARKING

Your cooperation with parking attendants at Cedarbrook Middle and Cheltenham High Schools is appreciated.  Attendants are hired to ease parking congestion.  No parking is permitted next to the school where there are yellow curb lines.

The Cheltenham School District has designated parking places for the handicapped at the various schools.

At Cheltenham High, spaces are located at the end of the bus-loading area near the Little Theatre and at the stage entrance with a ramp leading to the front of the Auditorium.

At Cedarbrook, spaces are on the bus loop next to the gymnasium.

Only cars with identifying handicapped license plates may park in these areas. Other cars will be ticketed by the police.

An elevator is always available at Cedarbrook and Cheltenham High School by request. Please contact CTAS office.

Our Cheltenham Township Adult School teachers desire to share their interests, knowledge and skills with others in the community.  They are of diverse backgrounds and of all ages, and, for the most part, live or work in or near Cheltenham Township.  Our teachers express their own views, and the opinions and advice communicated in the classroom do not necessarily reflect the perspective or beliefs of CTAS.
