Jan Goldman
Two poems

               Some Questions

               …after Pablo Neruda

What souls hover in the stratosphere between the mists of blue and
           green?

Do windmills grind the seeds of unborn clouds?

Does the foam of the waves speak its secret history to the shore?

Is the daisy brazen in flouting the yellowness of its love?

And does it turn its face away when yellow love dies?

At the Pool

Leaves moving softly

A canopy of leaves and sky

Leaves of different shapes

Many colors of green

Branches moving less than leaves

Branches of different thickness and thinness

Sky peaking through leaves

Light fading into dusk

The angle of the hill

Thick ivy growing

A brick wall curving

Dark water rippling

Bubbles at the surface

Leaves and flowers dotting the water

                    Faded redwood deck still holding.

Jan Goldman is a long-time resident of Elkins Park, where she lives with her husband Nick in the same house in which they raised their three children. When not writing poetry, Jan is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Jenkintown.
