      In our evening workshops,
we share a love of poetics, a sense
of wonder in the world around us.
We read the work of poets who illuminate
the ordinary, and write our own poems,
exploring and documenting our lives,
aware of the power of language....

The poet's voice need not merely be the
record of man, it can be
one of the props,
the pillars to help him endure and prevail.
– William Faulkner

Memory is essential.
It informs almost all
 writing. I don’t think
it helps us to understand
hidden truths, though.
It is just a drawer full
 of experiences, and at
 the time of those
experiences we may
have learned something.
I doubt if we learn more
by bringing up
memories, though I
suppose an older person
can look upon an early experience with
a little more wisdom.
– Ted Kooser

The world is always
burning, you should fly
from the burning
if you can.....
-- Gerald Stern
